Bekina® Indurub is investing in the purchase of 2 Ecodrive® injection moulding machinesBack to overview
Bekina® Indurub, established in Kluisbergen in 1970, specialises in the processing of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). The special features of these materials include the fact that they are elastic at room temperature and fluid when heated, making them easy for processing into end products with all kinds of shapes. The TPEs are heated and injected into a mould for different industrial applications such as bed springs, anti-slip ladder feet and various other technical, household and cosmetic applications. Bekina® Indurub has recently invested again in Ecodrive® injection moulding machines from Engel. This brings the total number of Ecodrive® machines in the machine pool to 8.
Investing in the future
Notwithstanding the fact that the purchase of machines is always an investment, Bekina® Indurub consciously renews its machine pool in stages. "We invest in the purchase of new machines on a regular basis. These investments improve our cost efficiency and ecological footprint, as well as our ability to continue to grow and meet the quality standards of our customers”, explains Wim Coppens, Managing Director of Bekina® Indurub.
The phased renewal of the machine pool offers several benefits. In addition to reduced energy consumption with the associated rise in profits, there are also advantages for the people involved.
As Production Manager, Luc De Buyck, points out: “Thanks to the Ecodrive® system, the hydraulic pump is activated only when the machine is in motion. Or, in short, no movement means no energy consumption. This reduces our energy consumption significantly, in some cases (items with very long cycle times) by up to almost 50%). Because the pump does not run so much, less cooling is needed and the machines are a lot quieter. This makes things a lot more pleasant for the operators.”
The first purchase of these Ecodrive® injection moulding machines dates back to 2013 (3 machines); 2015 (3 machines); 2017 (2 machines). The Bekina® Indurub machine pool numbers a total of 24 machines.
